My very first blog post features my own soon-to-be senior. Where have the last 17 years gone? Ballet slippers and twirly skirts have been replaced by Tae Kwon Do sparring gear and scuba diving equipment. Our house is riding the wave of all things college related, and come this fall, Rachel will be up to her chin in college applications. Georgia Tech and UW rank 1 and 2 on the short list, but I know her daddy is sending some not-so-subtle “go dawgs!” vibes her way. Wherever Rachel chooses to go, she is interested in bioengineering and a career involving prosthetics. Rachel, you have always said that your surgery and survival has long inspired you to give back one day, in a meaningful and life changing way. We have no doubt that your goals, fueled by your tenacious spirit and big heart, will help you in your pursuit of making this world a better place, one person at a time. We love you!
Those eyes! They used to be so blue, but now the color just depends on the light and what she is wearing.
Break open the doors of Bellarmine Prep. This girl is ready to tackle the world.
No matter where we were stationed at the time, we always enjoyed visits back to my hometown. It seemed fitting to have a session in a place that held special childhood memories for Rachel as well.
